A Disciples pastor conceived the Light a Candle for Children Forty Day Prayer Vigil Project. In 1996 DHM made Light a Candle for Children a denominational program and now hundreds Disciples, and United Church of Christ Churches, all across the United States, participate in this prayer vigil.
