"What are the signs that our church is in need of transformation?"
"Where do we get started in transforming our congregation?"
"Where is God in the process of transformation?"
"Who should we talk to about transformation for the church in our community?"
"Which transformation plan is the best for our congregation?"
"How does our faith in God, as known in Jesus Christ, show us the way in transforming our church?"
"What resources are available to help us transform our church?"
"Where can we go for coaching/consulting in transformation?"
"When does the Holy Spirit enter the process of transformation?"
These are just some of the questions leaders from congregations can address when they participate in any of the transformation events set to take place in 2008.
Five areas (subject to change) have been invited to host these events: Atlanta, Ga.; Philadelphia, Pa.; St. Louis, Mo.; Dallas, Texas; and Pasadena, Calif. A group comprised of church leaders from these areas is beginning to work on the general themes and organization of these events. Local teams, in consultation with the surrounding Disciples regions in their clusters, will plan them.
If you have questions about these events or would like to help organize any of them, contact the Rev. Doug Pfeiffer (pastor@faithomaha.org).
Rev. Dr. Mark Pumphrey is pastor at South Broadway Christian Church in Denver, Colo.
