Disciples Home Missions has announced that L. Wayne Stewart will end his tenure as Director of Black Ministries, effective October 17, 2007. Stewart has served in this position since January 2005. R. Wayne Calhoun Sr., Minister of Evangelism for Disciples Home Missions, has stepped forward to give direction to the 2008 Black Ministers Retreat, which will be held in March.
DHM is working closely with Timothy James, administrative secretary of the National Convocation, to envision ways of better serving African American Disciples. One goal is to return the director's position to full-time status. Stewart will be honored for his service to the Church during the next Black Ministers Retreat.
A general ministry of the church, Disciples Home Missions is committed to equipping Disciples for Christ and connecting people to the life changing love of God. |
