Biography
Carl E. Zerweck III serves as the director of Disciples Home Missions' Office of Disciples Volunteering. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., and was a member of Country Club Christian Church. In eigth grade, his family moved to St. Louis, Mo., where they still live. He was graduated from Texas Christian University with a B.A. in 1977 and from Brite Divinity School with an M.Div. in 1985.
From 1985 to 2001, Zerweck served in pastoral ministry, first for 11 years as associate pastor at Community Christian Church, Richardson, Texas, and for five years as pastor of Disciples Christian Church, Plano, Texas. He has also worked as an over the road truck driver and executive director of Plano Area Habitat For Humanity.
Zerweck has been involved in starting three Habitat For Humanity organizations, and has helped build more than 30 Habitat homes around the country. Volunteer mission work has been central to his life and ministry for 25 years. Carl has lead or participated in more than 75 mission trips and projects. His passion is working for justice, building, working with volunteers, and seeing how hands-on mission transforms lives and changes the world!
He is married to Robin Zerweck, Hospitality Coordinator for Disciples Volunteering, and has two step-daughters, Katrina and Kathleen. Much of November to February is spent traveling to Midway College Basketball games to watch Kathleen play.
In addition to ministry, he loves to snow ski and can actually play golf without getting totally stressed!
