Disciples Women
Blessing Box dedication
Scripture
"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming
down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not
change like shifting shadows. (James 1:17)
"As each has received a gift, employ it for one another,
as good stewards of God's varied grace." (Peter 4:10)
Meditation
A poem received by e-mail entitled "Drinking from My
Saucer" provides excerpts to emphasize the abundance
of our gifts.
And as I go along life's way,
I'm reaping better than I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
I thank God for rich blessings,
And for mercies long bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
And may I never be too busy,
To help others bear their loads.
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
"The giver of every good and perfect gift, our Shepherd,
causes our cups to overflow (Psalm 23:5b). God's gifts are
marked by kindness and helpfulness. Unlike shifting shadows,
God does not change. The Lord is always the giver of good
gifts.
"Each of us has received gifts of time, talents and money
to share. By employing these gifts on behalf of others, we
become agents of God's grace and we find our own gifts in
greater measure. Then we, too, can keep drinking from
our saucers.'"

Good Shepherd, we are gathered,
you called us each by name
Among us some are Mara.
As Joy, still others came.
Your love and grace enfold us,
Our Thankful song we raise.
Rekindle deep within us
Full lives of faithful praise.
Creator, in your image,
Our spirits are designed.
You share artistic powers,
Lifes canvas is cosigned.
When light and vision fail us,
Our thankful song we lift.
Rekindle deep within us
The wisdom of our gifts.
Companion on our journey,
At time we are afraid.
Each step requires courage,
Each day, new choices made:
To acquiesce to evil
or labor truth to birth.
Rekindle deep within us
Loves will to bless the earth.
